Happy Blockheads Wednesday! It’s Week 27 of Blockheads 5, Group 2, and our guest designer this week is Brenda Riddle. Her block is called Twinkle, and it’s a lovely, classic star block with a versatile design that will work with any fabric collection, from traditional to modern.

Something new we’re doing for this round of Blockheads is a weekly video. You can follow along with me as I sew the block of the week and share my tips and tricks and talk about different construction techniques. In this week’s video, I talk about a couple of different methods for making HSTs. If you’re making lots of HSTs with the same fabrics, using triangle papers can be a quick and efficient way to stitch up a batch of HSTs! I used Star Singles [https://shop.modafabrics.com/product/2079.00008] papers to make my Americana block this week, and I loved that I didn’t have to trim down the HSTs at all – I just paired my fabric squares, stitched on the dotted lines, and cut on the solid lines. After pressing open, my HSTs were precisely the size I needed!
