BH3 Block 42 - Starburst

BH3 Block 42 - Starburst

This makes forty-two blocks.  Three from each of the fourteen Block Heads Designers.  Yes, the end of Round 3.

CT BH3 Block 42 Starburst Joanna

This is Joanna's block - Starburst.  When I first saw it, it looked like a fresh take one of my favorite old blocks, Tea Leaves, by combining four in this setting.  But that center square is a terrific twist, allowing for more variety.  Joanna shares some variations for this block on her blog post.

Note: Starburst can only be made at 6" and 12".

If you're making 8" blocks for your quilt, the easiest solution is to add 1" sashing to the four sides of the block.  (Cut 2 strips of each size - 1.5" x 6.5" and 1.5" x 8.5".)  The instructions for Starburst can be found here - Fresh Figs.

As always, I like to share some of the blocks each designer has been making.

Isn't Joanna's red-and-cream color palette gorgeous?

Are you thinking about stashing more reds?  (I am!)

There are some really beautiful red prints in Joanna's Figs & Shirtings - in shops in a few weeks.  (It's a bit late in shipping... we just didn't want to let it go.)

You'll have to wait until 2021 for this one.

Thank you to Joanna - all of these images are from her Instagram.
