Chatsworth Quilt-Along: Blocks 7 and 8
Hello and welcome back for Blocks 7 and 8 of our Chatsworth Quilt-Along!
Have you been keeping up? Falling behind or just getting started? It's never too late to join in!
Month 7
Grab 4 new assorted print combos for this block. Now that we're more than halfway through the quilt, go ahead and mix up your assorted prints to keep the last half of the blocks looking extra scrappy!
I love the secondary design within this block! Some might see the pinwheel in the middle, while others see the outer perimeter of the block. Be sure to check out my Block 7 video:
Doug’s Tips:
-
I used my Mini Simple folded Corners Ruler for this block to get perfectly precise folded corners.
Chatsworth is just as stunning in solids as it is in prints! In my blog posts each month, I'll be sharing blocks made with a modern Southwest palette of sand, stone, turquoise, earth, and charcoal shades of Moda Bella Solids. Here's block 7:
Month 8
When working on this block, I love how the design can either be seen as an "x" or a "+". Each block is different, and I’m having a great time creating the different combination of prints in each. Be sure to check out my Block 8 video for more tips and tricks!
Doug's Tip:
- Use It's Sew Emma Square-in-a-Square papers to make piecing the center unit easy and precise!
Here's my block 8 in solids:
Be sure to check out our Chatsworth Facebook Group! It sure is fun to see everyone’s block and fabric choices.
See you next month on May 23 for Blocks 9 & 10!
